-

In the second session, participants explored the AI functions integrated into the Hula drones. They learned how artificial intelligence enhances drone navigation and obstacle avoidance. Practical exercises helped attendees program their drones to respond intelligently to different scenarios, showcasing real-time applications of AI in drone technology.

Lesson 3: Introduction to Hula Recognition Software

-

The third lesson introduced participants to Hula recognition software, followed by an opportunity to test their skills on a custom drone course designed by Aerise. Students were tasked with programming their drones to autonomously navigate the course, utilizing the recognition software to identify and interact with various elements along the way. This hands-on experience allowed participants to apply their programming knowledge in a dynamic, real-world scenario, demonstrating how recognition technology can elevate drone operations.

Lesson 4: Introduction to Hula Swarming Usage

-

The final lesson focused on Hula swarming technology. Participants experimented with synchronizing movements using either two Hula drones or a combination of one Hula drone and one Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). They learned the principles behind drone swarming and engaged in activities that showcased how drones and ground vehicles can collaborate for coordinated operations.

Engaging Interactions

IROS 2024

Celebrating the Success of the IROS 2024 Cooperative Aerial Robots Inspection Challenge (CARIC@IROS24)

Proudly Sponsored by Aerise!

We are thrilled to reflect on the success of the IROS 2024 Cooperative Aerial Robots Inspection Challenge (CARIC@IROS24), which took place during the IROS 2024 conference. As proud sponsors of this innovative event, Aerise was excited to support advancements in aerial robotics and witness the incredible talent and creativity displayed by the participating teams.

Introduction to CARIC

The CARIC Challenge showcased the potential of Cooperative Aerial Robots Inspection (CARI) systems, which utilize multiple aerial robots to enhance inspection capabilities. Heterogeneous CARI systems can deliver greater efficiency, quality, and versatility than traditional single-UAV or homogeneous systems. However, realizing this potential requires new cooperative strategies to optimally coordinate these robots.

To facilitate this process, the Cooperative Aerial Robots Inspection Challenge (CARIC) Benchmark was introduced. This software stack is designed for simulating and benchmarking multi-UAV inspection systems, serving two main objectives:

  1. Faithful Simulation: To accurately represent multi-UAV systems operating in typical real-world inspection scenarios.
  2. Benchmarking Cooperative Inspection Schemes: To evaluate different cooperative inspection strategies based on common metrics, promoting advancements and fair comparisons within the community.

Event Highlights

The CARIC Challenge brought together teams from around the globe, all eager to demonstrate their innovative solutions. Here are some highlights from the event:

  • Innovative Solutions: Participants showcased a wide range of creative approaches to tackle multi-UAV inspection tasks, illustrating the versatility and capability of CARI systems.
  • Collaboration and Networking: The event fostered valuable interactions among participants, industry experts, and researchers, creating opportunities for collaboration that will undoubtedly drive future advancements in the field.
