CARIC at IROS 2024
AERISE Sponsorship
AERISE was proud to support the IROS 2024 Cooperative Aerial Robots Inspection Challenge (CARIC@IROS24). The challenge brought together international teams to demonstrate new approaches to cooperative inspection using multiple aerial robots.
Heterogeneous cooperative aerial robot inspection systems can improve efficiency, coverage and flexibility compared with a single UAV. The CARIC benchmark provides a shared simulation and evaluation environment for testing these systems in realistic inspection scenarios.
- Faithful simulation: realistic multi-UAV inspection scenarios for research and development.
- Comparable benchmarking: common metrics for evaluating cooperative inspection strategies.
Challenge Highlights

Participants presented a wide range of solutions for multi-UAV inspection. The event also created valuable opportunities for teams, researchers and industry specialists to exchange ideas and build future collaborations.
Challenge and Poster Awards
Congratulations to XMU MAC, winner of the CARIC Challenge, for an outstanding performance and innovative approach.

The IROS 2024 PANLOGIN Workshop Best Poster Award recognised the work titled “Autonomous Multi-MAV Localization of Ionizing Radiation Using Miniature Compton Cameras.”

Acknowledgements
AERISE thanks the organising committee, participating teams and research community for making the challenge possible. Their work continues to advance cooperative aerial robotics and practical multi-UAV inspection.
